Thank Governor Polis for supporting more affordable prescription drugs for Coloradans!
In addition, prescription drugs account for over 20% of health insurance premium costs, which puts a further burden on Coloradans’ and the State’s budget in light of the economic fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic. 2
Governor Polis supports establishing a Prescription Drug Affordability Board (PDAB), which will be tasked with addressing the high costs of certain prescription drugs, a crucial step in securing affordable health care for all Coloradans. This approach will bring both immediate results for consumers and long-term cost savings for the state of Colorado without straining an already tight state budget. Colorado state legislators will vote this spring whether or not to approve the formation of a PDAB.
A January 2021 poll shows that a bipartisan 70% of Coloradans support the creation of a Prescription Drug Affordability Board.
